In July 2003 I joined the faculty of the
Department of Computer and Information Science
at the
University of Mississippi
in Oxford.
In Fall 2009 I am teaching
CSCI 475 Introduction to Database Systems and
ENGR 596-63/691-63 Computer Audio.
My research areas include:
- Audio Comparison, Search, Display, and Monitoring.
This is continuation of my work at
Comparisonics.
I am interested in algorithms for comparing sounds
and for searching collections of sounds, stored in databases or on the Web (see
FindSounds.com) or produced by sound synthesizers.
I am also interested in visual representations of sound and
in real-time monitoring and classification of sounds.
- Programming Languages for Computer Simulation.
I am working on the development of
Simscript III,
a new object-oriented programming language for computer simulation based on Simscript II.5.
I am delighted to be collaborating with Nobel laureate
Dr. Harry M. Markowitz, who invented the original Simscript in 1962.
- Other areas of interest:
- Pattern Recognition
- Algorithms
- Search Engines
I have worked in the computer field in academia and industry for 31 years.
