Department welcomes new Assistant ProfessorThe Department welcomes the arrival of Dr. Philip J. Rhodes as a new Assistant Professor. Dr. Rhodes recently completed his PhD in Computer Science at the University of New Hampshire. He earned a B.A. in Philosophy from University of Virginia and a Master's in Computer Science at the University of Rhode Island. While working on his dissertation, Dr. Rhodes managed the development of Granite, a system and API written in Java which allows efficient uniform access to a wide variety of spatial scientific data formats, especially large datasets. Dr. Rhodes' research spans the areas of scientific data processing, data visualization, and software development. This fall, Dr. Rhodes will be teaching CSCI 581, section 1, "Scientific Data and Visualization". More information about the course can be found here. He will also be teaching CSCI 223, Computer Organization and Assembly Language.
