New professor to teach special topics courseDr. Philip J. Rhodes, the department's new professor, will be teaching a special topics course titled "Scientific Data and Visualization" this fall. The time for the class is 4:00-5:15pm on Mondays and Wednesdays. The course number is CSci581, section 1. A description follows: This course is an overview of issues relating to representation, handling, and visualization of scientific data. Topics include 2D and 3D visualization techniques, data formats for representation of regular and unstructured scientific data, and multidimensional access methods. Visualization will be conducted through the Visualization Tool Kit (vtk) environment. The entire course schedule for Fall 2004 can be found here.
