REST with CSS, and ride with RAILS - A review of fast changing web development practices

October 4, 3:00pm

Weir Hall, Room 235

Arvinder Singh Kang

With every major company jumping on Web 2.0 bandwagon, certain best practices and models have decreased the web application development time-cycle. However, because of its dynamic and ultra-fast changing models, it is becoming harder to keep in pace with the changes happening in these models. We would briefly analyze web 2.0 application development and trace these new models and practices, and how they power faster and better development.

We would briefly discuss on all three aspects of web programming: CSS - the faster way to design, MVC - the faster and better development model and REST - the new cool kid around trying to make best use of HTTP protocol.

Arvinder Singh Kang is a Graduate Student in the Department of Computer and Information Science and working on Ruby on Rails under the guidance of his advisor, Dr. Conrad Cunningham. He constantly seeks guidance on databases and life related issues from Dr. Dawn Wilkins, and is an open source evangelist in the footprints of Dr. P. Tobin Maginnis.
