Parallel Compression on the Cell Broadband Engine

David will give a brief introduction to the cell broadband engine, which will include the specs of the Cell and an overview of communication between the power processing unit and the 8 synergistic processing units. He will also cover currently available open source software that forms the basis for czip, a version of gzip built for the cell broadband engine that he helped develop this summer. After he completes all of that I will go over implementation issues that he had and their solutions. Plus, he will also go over changes in the flow of czip that resulted from my work this summer.
