Computer Science Seminar Series
Crafting Regular Expressions
Wednesday, September 21st, 3:00pm
Weir Hall, Room 235
Presenter: James Church
Graduate Student, Computer Science, University of Mississippi
"Regular Expressions" refers to the minilanguage that is found in
several Unix tools, programming languages, text editors, and office
software suites. A regular expression is syntax for describing a
pattern of text, which then can be used to extract, replace, and
verify the content of data.
This seminar will cover the basics to crafting simple regular
expressions using the Perl-compatible regular expressions (PCRE)
syntax and focuses on the uses of regular expressions in World Wide
Web applications.
